Mountain bike guided tour

You like the mountains and you like sports? That's lucky, so do I. Come and discover the fascinating countryside of the Fribourg and Vaud Prealps on a mountain bike.

Whether you are already an aficionado of this sport or you are getting ready for your first outing; alone, as a family, or with friends, I shall be delighted to guide you round the itinerary of your choice. Your efforts will be rewarded by unspoiled views of the regions around the Moléson, Berra, Lac Noir, or the Dent de Jaman.

Examples of some of the tours

1. Departure from Hauta-Chia: descent to the Balisa, then towards the Lac Noir, exit the village, climb up the Schwyberg and follow the crest to Plaffeien, return to point of departure via Passelbschlund. This circuit of 46 kms is fairly demanding.

2. Departure from Hauta-Chia on the well-known tour of the Berra, with ascent to the summit (requires pushing the bike for a few metres). Via Valsainte, Gîte d'Allières, Berra summit and return to Haut-Chia. This tour can be extended by a detour towards Vounetz, via Plan Paccot (tarmac road) or Reposoirs woods (steep climb), followed by a demanding descent to the Charmey telecabin station. The small tour is 16 kms; the two-summit circuit about 30 kms.

3. The Moléson Tour! The best point of departure is Moléson Village , towards Gros Plané, the Villard Pass , the Belle-Chaux Pass , Les Moilles, down into the Intyamon valley towards Nerivue, then return via Enney - La Vudalla. In all 33 kms.

4. Departure from Paccots: climb over the Soladier Pass (carry the bike) and continue to the Jaman Pass, return through Allières or Les Sciernes towards Bulle. About 30 kms.

Some tours more suited to families

5. Departure from Bulle, through the Bouleyres woods, then after a pleasant ride along the Sarine between Broc and Grandvillard, we have the option of continuing to Lessoc to see the famous fountain, return towards Gruyere by unfrequented paths leading to the medieval city, before rejoining Bulle. A ride of 15-20 kms, suitable for everyone.

6. Departure from Bulle, through the Bouleyres woods, then at the exit from Broc, a gentle climb towards the Motélon valley, before the descent to the Montsalvens dam, and along the lakeside to join the Motélon road towards Charmey. From there, the choice of a detour via Valsainte or a direct run to Cerniat village, which offers a magnificent view of the Prealps. At the same time, a chance to see the superb chalets at Crésuz, before the smell of fresh chocolate from the Nestlé factory at Broc draws us on. From there, Bulle is just a few kilometres.
